The Grand “Reopening” Show features beloved artists Denise Kester, an Ashlander, plus Robin and John Gumaelius, Olympic Peninsula residents. Denise’s expertise in monoprinting forms a base for new exploration with mixed media processes. The Gumaelius collaborators have created a series of circus like characters.
“For me, art work, dream work, and life work are intertwined in a dance of discovery evoking tenderness, trust, and mystery. This work reveals a deep and potent connection to all things past, present, and future. The images in my dreams and in my heart are waiting for me to take notice, and draw them out to tell their story.”
“Some images come from a secret storage place inside. Random things sidle up to each other and come out stitched together, sometimes seeming like new discoveries and sometimes seeming like old truth newly remembered. Some images come from postcards or books or stories I have with me while I am working. Sometimes I copy my children’s drawings, they copy mine, and I copy”.

I had so little time to ponder at your beautiful gallery but plan to get back to Ashland before the end of the month. I LOVED your displays and must say that Robin and John Gumaelius are my favorite artists hands down. I am a clay artist and in awe of their expression and craftsmanship. Thank you for offering such eye candy to the public.
