"Creating natural shapes, and recreating the things I see daily around me, are my favorite motifs, motifs that at some level impersonate how we exist as humans. The color combinations I use may come from my own traditions, such as from the palette of the kimono".

Betty LaDuke,
Shaped Paintings
Betty LaDuke has been inspired by her many projects with Heifer International to shift gears and work with cutout wood shapes as compared with painting on canvas. Her exhibition here last year consisted of large scale painted cutouts and this new work is on a smaller scale.

"As I observe my aging Process the experience has not been with out surprises. No one is prepared for the visual changes taking place and I am finding it extremely interesting. Color softens and lines blur. Rounding occurs as proportions shift and reposition and new configurations are incorporated as part of the life process. Birth, love, fertility, aging and romance are affirmed."
