October Show: All in the Family

Grace Henson and her Family of Artists

“All in the Family”, the appropriate title for this show, includes a different cast of characters than Archie Bunker’s family. However, there is some “tongue in cheek” humor evident in the paintings by Grace Henson or “Mom” in this family. Her daughters, Sarah and Amy can’t resist Mom’s influence as the sense of whimsy in their creations also makes us smile. Paul Charron, Amy’s husband, has turned an obsession with frontier facades into extraordinary sculptural forms.

Grace Henson and family lived in Ashland and she taught art at Phoenix High School from 1964 to 1975. The following year she opened the “Peacock Emporium”, in downtown Ashland, a shoppe filled with beautifully designed specialty items. She now lives in Hillsboro, Oregon
Both daughters attended Ashland schools.

Sarah Fine, the eldest, is a graphic designer with the city of Portland. Younger sister, Amy Charron, is the Art director with University Relations and marketing at Oregon State University. And granddaughter, Cielle Charron, carries the family tradition into the future. She just graduated in June from Portland State University majoring in, what else, graphic design.

Now the title shifts to “ART in the Family” (and you can like it on Facebook).
